April school holidays are a busy time for our Clayton Bay Camp (CBC).
The first camp was conducted by CARA, from 18 to 21 April 2016. Cara is one of South Australia's largest providers of disability services. CARA regularly uses our Clayton Bay Camp as its facilities are ideal for aquatic adventures for children.
The second camp was the regular School Holidays camp and was conducted from 18 to 25 April. This was managed and run by our camp partner Puddle Jumpers.
This was a full capacity camp (70 plus) with some of the children being accommodated in tents – a first for CBC.
All of the food costs for this camp were donated in cash by one of our supporters. We also used this camp as a training camp for around twenty new volunteers – all young – average age around 18. Included was a 19 year old university student from Hong Kong on his second SOS camp.
Adventure activities are supported by a fleet of bicycles, donated and maintained by our supporters, canoes and a catamaran. Swimming and boating on the lake fronting the camp property are the highlight for our children attending camps.
